From day one, we have worked tirelessly to turn our state around. Our very first budget eliminated nearly all of the $5.1 billion structural deficit we inherited, and we have cut taxes, tolls, and fees by more than $1.2 billion
After five years without a single tax increase, the same people that raised your taxes 43 consecutive times are at it again. They have a plan that would raise your taxes by $31.9 billion - over three times more than they did before - hitting every working family and small business across our state. Their plan would also create a gaping $18.7 billion structural deficit.
Let me be very clear: We cannot recklessly expand the state’s deficit, and we absolutely will not impose billions in crippling state and local tax increases on Marylanders.
